The all-new styling of the 2023 Honda Pilot TrailSport is tough and adventure-ready. It has a large, upright grille, a strong horizontal beltline, and aggressively flared fenders. Pulled back A-pillars and long hood create a longer dash-to-axle ratio for a sportier profile. The fourth-generation model is 3.4 inches longer and has a stronger presence. It is easy to recognize from the back because it has a sleek body-color roof spoiler and new LED taillights.
The new Pilot boasts more space than the last model, especially in the back rows. The front seats have been updated to reduce fatigue on long car rides, and there is 2.4 inches of increased legroom in the second row as well as an additional 4 degrees or recline. Accessing the third row has also gotten easier and that area gained 0.6 inches of extra legroom too.
Pilot can seat 8 people and has an opening panoramic sunroof. This feature comes standard on Touring and Elite models. Heated seats are also a standard amenity across the lineup. For even more comfort, TrailSport and Elite trims come with a heated steering wheel. EX-L and Touring have soft leather upholstery, while top-range Elite gets perforated leather inserts and ventilated front seats for optimal airflow no matter the weather outside.

The 2023 Pilot has the most cargo room in the model's history, with up to 113.67 cu.-ft.1 behind the first row, and up to 22.42 cu.-ft.1 behind the third row. Expanded cabin storage includes a massive console bin that can swallow a full-size tablet, the return of Pilot's clever passenger-side instrument panel shelf, and 14 large-volume cupholders throughout the cabin, including eight that will fit wide 32 oz water bottles.

The Pilot features Honda's most powerful 3.5L V6 engine, which delivers 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet (355 Nm) of torque. The vehicle is equipped with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, which is an upgrade from the nine-speed transmission on the previous model. If it operates in the same manner as the Odyssey's 10-speed transmission, it should work well with the V6 engine to send power to either the front or all four wheels - depending on whether AWD is selected (which comes standard on Elite and TrailSport models).
Prices have not yet been announced for the 2023 Pilot, which will begin production in Lincoln, Ala. It will be available in Sport, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring and Elite trim levels. The Sport trim for the current Pilot starts at a whopping $39,375 with destination included. It's unlikely that prices will go down for the 2023 model year, so the new Pilot might be one of the most expensive vehicles in its class. Even still, Honda's three-row SUV is always popular among parents, and we don't see any reason why that will change with the 2023 model's refreshed styling and cabin layout.
