At the Monaco GT World Finals event to celebrate Sony's 25th anniversary of its gaming series, Ferrari revealed its own Vision Gran Turismo concept in both a full-scale prototype and digital form.

The Vision Gran Turismo was designed with aerodynamics in mind, and its rear wing, diffuser, and air vents on the wheelarches all work together to create downforce. It looks wilder than anything we have seen from Maranello before, including the 499P endurance racer. This is because it was designed as a vehicle for a video game, so the designers didn't have the same limitations as they would in designing a real-life automobile.

The hypercar was designed by the Ferrari Centro Stile, headed by Flavio Manzoni. The design is inspired by classic racers like the 330 P3 and 512 S. According to the official press release, the Vision GT is a "futuristic design manifesto for Ferrari's road and racing cars" and "redefines the company's stylistic language". This likely means that some of its styling cues could be interpreted in future production models and hopefully in the next flagship.

Ferrari chose a hybrid layout that is more similar to the ones used by its production models, but with considerably more power. The mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 from the 296 GTB has been virtually tuned to produce 1,016 hp (758 kW / 1,030 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. Additionally, there is another 322 hp (240 kW / 326 PS) from a trio of electric motors positioned in each of the front wheels and at the rear axle. The combined torque from the hybrid system on the rear axle alone is 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

Power from the engine is transmitted through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the addition of the electric motors offers AWD. Ferrari estimates that such a powerful machine can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than 2 seconds, from 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in under 5 seconds, and reach a top speed of over 350 km/h (218 mph).

The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo concept's full-scale prototype will be at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello until March 2023. Those with a Playstation gaming console will be able to drive it in Gran Turismo 7 starting from December 23.
