Although Mr. Reznikov did not mention how many vehicles were included in the transfer, earlier French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornieu told Le Journal du Dimanche that two multiple-launch rocket systems had been sent to Ukraine.
The LRU M270 is the European version of the American M270 armored self-propelled multiple rocket launcher system. Earlier, Ukraine had received these launchers from Great Britain and Norway. Other than that, Germany gave its MARS II MLRS to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The United States is also contributing by supplying Ukraine with the M142 HIMARS, which uses a wheeled chassis instead of being tracked.
The M142 and M270 MLRSs give the Ukrainian Armed Forces the ability to perform precision ground-to-ground missile strikes at a range of around 80 kilometers (50 miles) against Russian occupying forces.
