However, formally it is not quite a Peugeot 408. It is a Dongfeng Fukang ES600. And as you have probably already assumed, it is sold only in China.

The Dongfeng Fukang brand is owned by the joint venture that was formed in 1992 between Dongfeng and PSA Group. The joint venture produces various vehicles under the Fukang and Citroen brands. One of these is the Fukang ES600 electric sedan, based on the Peugeot 408. Its regular version debuted in March 2022, and now the one with a swappable battery showed up.

The CATL battery has a capacity of 51 kWh, which can charge the vehicle for 410 km under CLTC range tests. The Fukang ES600 is powered by a 150 hp an electric motor. If we're looking at its zero-to-hundred acceleration, it takes 10.7 seconds to reach that speed. As for the top speed, this vehicle is limited to 140 km/h.

Dongfeng's partner in setting up battery swap stations across China is Aulton New Energy, founded in 2016. Partly owned by CATL, Mayao Venture Capital Partnership, and NIO Capital, among others, Aulton built 336 swap stations in 2021. Moreover, the ES600 will be able to utilize the EVOGO battery swap station made by CATL.

The battery swap station is an alternative to the quick charge EV station. Basically, instead of charging a car at the station, you can quickly and easily swap in a new battery pack. It's not only fast, but it is also convenient for those who may need to extend their range without having to wait for long periods of time.
