The news that Toyota Land Cruiser will likely return to U.S. is definitely a welcome sight for those who have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new Toyota Land Cruiser J300 series. The Land Cruiser has long been a favorite among off-road enthusiasts and now they can look forward to experiencing the legendary reliability and performance of this iconic vehicle.

Motortrend spoke with Jack Hollis, executive vice president of sales at Toyota Motor North America. When asked about a possible return of the Land Cruiser in the US, Hollis said: "Will we ever? I would say likely yes".

While Hollis didn't reveal anything about the timing of a possible US launch, he went on to elaborate: "Obviously, the Land Cruiser is such an important part of our heritage and has done such a great job. And I'll be looking at it, absolutely. Have I seen designs, thoughts, and hopes, yes. But nothing to announce. It's still a ways off".

The Toyota Land Cruiser Series 300 was introduced in 2021, and it has been a big success in terms of sales. The automaker decided not to bring the new generation to the US, leaving Americans with only the option of its premium brother - the Lexus LX.

For this generation, Toyota ceased to offer V8 engine options in favour of a 3.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 305 kW (409 hp; 415 PS), and a 3.3-litre V6 diesel engine producing 227 kW (304 hp; 309 PS). A 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated V6 engine is carried over from the previous model.

However, it seems like Americans should focus on the next generation of Land Cruiser, which will likely be electrified - either as a hybrid or a full battery-electric vehicle. In any case, US buyers who are interested in a Land Cruiser need to be armed with patience.
