On December 5, Russia bombarded Ukraine's energy infrastructure in a large-scale attack. The servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine were able to stop one of the russian $1.2-million worth Kh-101 cruise missiles by shooting it with a machine gun.

The Kh-101 missile was downed by soldiers of a Mobile Firing Team from the National Guard of Ukraine. These Mobile Firing Team were created to counter Russian air attacks, specifically cruise missiles and kamikaze drones.

"The rocket, which was flying at a low altitude, was hit with heavy machine guns and automatic weapons fire." - the National Guard of Ukraine stated.

Kh-101/102 (Izdeliye 111) - developed as in the late 1990s, the Kh-101. This missile weighs some 2,200 - 2,400 kg, the weight of warhead is 400-450 kg. According to reports, the Kh-101 has a maximum range of 4500-5500 km and a variable flight profile at altitudes ranging from 30 - 70 m to 6000 m, a cruising speed of 190-200 m/s and a maximum speed of 250-270 m/s. Defense Express report that Kh-101 cruise missile costs approximately $1.2 million.

The Ukrainian Air Force states that Russia fired 70 missiles at various targets located in Ukraine on December 5, 2022. Thankfully, the Ukrainian air defense was able to shoot down "over 60 missiles."
