Genesis GV60 is the luxury brand's first dedicated electric vehicle. For the 2023 model year, it is getting a tech boost on the European market, including new biometric features, such as the world's first face recognition technology for keyless entry in a production vehicle.

The Face Connect feature allows customers to unlock and start their car using only their face. A face recognition sensor with a deep-learning image processing controller makes this possible. You only need to set up your profile once, after which you won't ever need the physical key again.

For some, this tech probably sounds a little too scary and confusing. However, Genesis says the system is easy to use and there's a LED indicator on the B-pillar, which visualizes the status of the car and gives confirmation whenever the system is activated. The automaker also ensures no biometric data is ever uploaded and stored remotely outside the car's HMI.

A feature closely related to what Genesis offers is now a commonplace phone function used by millions daily. However, its application into the GV60 provides convenience for outdoor activities where carrying a physical key would be impractical, such as swimming or running.

The technology that has been available in the US for the GV60 is now also available for ordering in certain markets around Europe, says the South Korean brand.
