In the video, Spot 1 is holding a vibrant red bow that it desperately desires to place atop the Christmas tree. Even with its robotic arm fully stretched out, getting that high was beyond reach for Spot 1 - until Spots 2 and 3 came into play! The two robots create a makeshift platform for Spot 1 to climb onto. Then they extend their limbs as far as possible - suddenly making the top of the tree accessible from below!
The robot then uses its arm to grab the bow before placing it carefully at the top of the tree.
Spot's impressive display of versatility is a bit concerning, as it showcases how robots can collaborate to accomplish a goal. However, if you're fearful about some kind of robotic uprising, make sure that you watch the video until its surprising conclusion! Although Spot may have ambitions for control, as indicated in the video finale this robot won't be able to take over - at least not yet.
"We hope you have an uplifting holiday season!" the robotics team says in a message accompanying the 90-second skit, adding: "Spot was teleoperated by professional operators, don't try this at home."
