The state of Texas is generally associated with warm temperatures, but as the Great Texas Freeze demonstrated in the previous year, the state can experience colder weather. This was evident last weekend when Matthew Guthrie stopped at a H-E-B store on Christmas Eve and discovered that the automatic car wash had become a frozen disaster.

Although not much is known about the specific circumstances, pictures show massive icicles hanging from the ceiling and brush roller. It appears that a pipe may have ruptured due to the cold weather, leading to water spilling everywhere and subsequently freezing.

It is currently uncertain for how long the car wash will be unavailable. However, Fox Weather reported that the National Weather Service recorded temperatures as low as 12° F (-11.1° C) in central Texas on Saturday. This temperature is significantly lower than usual. Fortunately, warmer weather has returned to the region, with Austin experiencing temperatures in the 70's today and expected to remain at these levels for the remainder of the week.

An arctic blast linked to the winter storm occurring during the Christmas week began to hit Texas leading up to the holiday weekend. The severe winter storm brought blizzard conditions to several states across the U.S. and resulted in the deaths of several individuals.
