Mercedes-Benz is likely preparing to release a refreshed version of its popular GLB-Class model for the 2024 model year, as a prototype was recently spotted being tested in snowy conditions in Europe.

While the GLB has previously been praised as one of the company's best-packaged vehicles, especially among its smaller offerings, the updated model will need to offer more to stand out in an increasingly expensive market.

The prototype features camouflage typically used for minor exterior updates, and appears to be finished in a Rose Gold Metallic color which may be available on the updated model. From what can be seen, the front of the car will have a slightly smoother appearance with fewer creases in the lower fascia and a grille that is more flush with the bumper. It is currently unclear if these changes will be made to the final version of the vehicle.

In addition to any exterior updates, the refreshed GLB is expected to include an updated version of the MBUX infotainment system and a new 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain. While these 48V systems do not greatly affect the driving experience, they do enable the use of various technologies that will help Mercedes move towards electrifying its lineup. The GLB already has an all-electric counterpart, the EQB.
