German machine-building company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has begun production of RCH 155 self-propelled artillery systems for Ukraine, according to Nicholas Drummond, an Advisor to the company

"Sometimes combining two proven solutions into a new concept can be revolutionary while avoiding significant risk. Production of the Boxer RCH-155 for Ukraine has begun," Drummond wrote.

The RCH 155 is a KMW development of the self-propelled howitzer 2000 and the artillery gun Donar, and is mounted on the chassis of the GTK Boxer.

It is equipped with a 155 mm/L52 barrel weapon and has a combat load of 30 projectiles with fuze and 144 modular propellant charges, with a firing rate of 9 rounds per minute. The RCH 155 is compatible with all 155 mm projectiles that adhere to NATO's Joint Ballistics Memorandum of Understanding.

In December, the German government announced that it is preparing to provide 18 units of the RCH 155 to Ukraine, following a request from the Ukrainian Defense Minister in July 2022.
