Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath announced that the company achieved an all-time high in electric car deliveries in December through "extra hard work." He also declared "mission accomplished," indicating that the goal of delivering 50,000 Polestar 2 electric cars in 2022 has been reached.

In the third quarter of 2022, Polestar delivered 9,215 plug-in electric cars, and by the end of September, the year-to-date total was 30,400. Deliveries significantly increased in the latter part of the year, as on December 14, the company reported 45,000 vehicle deliveries. This means that an additional 5,000 Polestar 2s were delivered during the final two weeks of December.

It is encouraging to see that Polestar has achieved strong sales numbers in a challenging year. It is worth noting that the original target for the year was 65,000 cars, but this was lowered to 50,000 units (a 23% reduction) in the spring due to COVID-19 lockdowns in China, where the Polestar 2 is produced.
With 20,000 cars delivered in the fourth quarter, Polestar may be on track to reach 100,000 sales in 2023.
