At the end of 2022, Hyundai said goodbye to plug-in hybrid vehicles in Norway. From now on, they offer their Norwegian customers exclusively battery electric vehicles.

Norway marks the first market in which Hyundai has made the transition to all-electric vehicles. The shift makes sense, as EVs have accounted for over 90% of Hyundai's sales in Norway in recent years, reaching 93% in 2022. In the period from 2020 to 2022, the company reported delivering 25,000 passenger cars in Norway, with 92% being fully electric.

“We have great faith in our model portfolio, and now that we have launched the all-new IONIQ 6, the time has come to sell only all-electric cars in the Norwegian market. IONIQ 5 and KONA Electric have long since taken positions as some of the most popular cars in the market, and we are confident that our pure electric cars will bring us continued success into the future,” says Thomas Rosvold, Managing Director at Hyundai Motor Norway.

Additionally, the Norwegian Volkswagen importer Møller Mobility Group plans to import only EVs starting in January 2024. Both Hyundai and Møller Mobility Group are making the switch to EVs ahead of Norway's government mandate that only fully electric cars be allowed in new registrations after the end of 2025.
