During the last quarter of 2022, Tesla managed to deliver a total of 405,278 electric vehicles, a new record for the company. While this impressive feat was celebrated by the automaker, it fell short of the expected 418,000 vehicles predicted by Wall Street analysts. In comparison, the company delivered 308,600 vehicles in the same quarter the previous year.

As stated by Tesla, the majority of the company's deliveries in Q4 2022 were made up of the Model 3 and Model Y, with a total of 388,131 of these vehicles being delivered to customers by the end of the year. In contrast, the more expensive Model S and Model X models only accounted for a small number of deliveries, at 17,147 over the same period. Another record was set by Tesla in Q4 2022, as the company produced a total of 439,701 vehicles.

It is safe to say that the end of 2022 was somewhat of a challenge for Tesla. In addition to the distractions caused by Elon Musk's usage of Twitter, the company faced a number of macroeconomic and logistical difficulties that threatened to hinder growth. These challenges included COVID-19 restrictions in China, which forced Tesla to suspend and decrease production at its Shanghai Gigafactory. In fact, the facility was closed for the final week of December, leading to concerns about declining demand in the world's largest automotive market. Furthermore, Tesla struggled to secure transportation for its completed vehicles in Q4.

In addition to the aforementioned challenges, Tesla also experienced a significant drop in the value of its shares due to Elon Musk's use of Twitter and repeated sell-offs of Tesla stock. In December alone, the company's stock fell by 33%, and a 45% decline was observed over the past six months. However, there was a slight rally in anticipation of the company's Q4 numbers. Tesla will release its full Q4 results on January 25th and host its annual Investor Day presentation on March 1st.
