Ferrari fans will be pleased to hear that the iconic car manufacturer is hard at work on the successor to the 812 supercar. While it's not expected to make its official debut until 2024, a recent spy video provides a sneak peek at the vehicle's development.

Filmed on the Fiorano race track in Italy, the video shows the new car sliding around corners and revving its throaty engine. While it's difficult to discern any specific details from the footage, it appears that the test vehicle is fitted with wider wheel arches and a redesigned front bumper with additional cooling intakes.

As for the engine, little is known at this point. The current 812 Competizione is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 that produces an impressive 830 horsepower (618 kilowatts) and 510 pound-feet (692 Newton-meters) of torque. However, Ferrari has previously hinted that it is working on an even more powerful version of the engine, though it's unclear which model it will be used in. Some speculators believe it could be reserved for the 812 successor, while others think it could be earmarked for a LaFerrari replacement.

While Ferrari's first electric vehicle is set to arrive in 2025, the company has made it clear that it will continue to produce combustion engines for as long as possible, including at least one more generation of its beloved V12.

It's worth noting that the new car in the spy video is still disguised under a modified Roma body, indicating that it is still in the early stages of development. However, with the start of a new year upon us, it's likely that we'll see the car's production body revealed sometime in the next few months. Even if it debuts this year, it's expected to go on sale in 2024.
