The Japan-only Century sedan, which has been in production since 1967, is currently in its third generation and is mostly sold to affluent customers in Japan with a starting price of 20 million yen (about $152,000 USD or €142,000). The magazine claims that Toyota is developing an SUV version of the Century, which will be based on the Highlander model but will be longer and have two-row seating with ample legroom for rear passengers.
The Century SUV is said to have a length of 5.2 meters (204.7 inches) which would make it even longer than the Land Cruiser. The wheelbase is said to be 3 meters (118.1 inches), which would provide ample space in the interior. The SUV is also said to be 1,950mm (76.7 inches) wide, 1,750mm (68.9 inches) tall and have a curb weight of about 2,200 kg (4,850 pounds).

Power for the Century SUV is rumored to come from a 3.5-liter V6 engine from the Lexus LC 500h and LS 500h, as well as a hybrid powertrain option that would include an electric motor at the back. The 5.0-liter V8 engine in the sedan will not be offered in the SUV. The report estimates that the Century SUV would cost between 10 to 15 million yen, which translates to $75,800 to $114,000 USD or €70,600 to €106,000.
Toyota is said to be planning to launch the Century SUV in Japan as early as mid-2023, but there is no word on if it will be available in other markets. The idea of an SUV version of the Century is unusual, as the Century is traditionally a high-end luxury sedan, and it's not confirmed yet. As always, take any such reports with a pinch of salt and wait for official confirmation from the automaker.
