Nissan's all-electric Ariya SUV will embark on a 27,000 km journey through some of the harshest conditions on earth, as part of the Pole to Pole expedition, led by British adventurer Chris Ramsey and his wife, Julie. The modified Ariya, which is set to be unveiled in February, will be the first vehicle of any kind to undertake this journey.

o prepare for the Arctic and Antarctic polar terrain, the expedition's Ariya e-4ORCE will be fitted with a custom rugged exterior, including raised suspension and flared wheel arches to accommodate larger tires and an additional body kit. These modifications will protect the vehicle from some of the most extreme conditions on earth.

According to Clíodhna Lyons, Region Vice President Product and Services Planning at Nissan, "Nissan and the team of extreme pioneers at Pole to Pole are pushing the limits of electric mobility, accelerating towards a cleaner, safer, more inclusive world. By undertaking and completing this ambitious expedition, we hope to inspire action in others around the world, demonstrating the capabilities of electric vehicles and speeding up their adoption as a solution to reducing global emissions."

It's worth noting that the standard Nissan Ariya is available in three versions: Ariya 2WD 63kWh, Ariya 2WD 87 kWh, Ariya e-4ORCE AWD 87 kWh) and a range of up to 304 miles of EPA driving range or 533 km in WLTP test cycle. The Ariya's starting price of $44,485 places it above the Nissan Leaf hatchback.
