According to a report by Variety, Amazon Prime Video is ending its partnership with "The Grand Tour" - the popular automotive show hosted by former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond.

Sources claim that Amazon Prime Video will not be working with Clarkson after the completion of "The Grand Tour" and "Clarkson's Farm" episodes that have already been commissioned. "The Grand Tour" is expected to conclude in late 2024, with four more special episodes, and "Clarkson's Farm" is set to end with season 3, also in 2024.

A press conference scheduled for January 16, 2023, which was meant to promote season 2 of "Clarkson's Farm," was reportedly canceled, though Amazon Prime Video declined to provide a comment about the issue. Clarkson later stated that the streaming service provider was "incandescent" about the situation.

The decision is believed to stem from Clarkson's recent controversial comments about Meghan Markle in a December 16, 2022 column in The Sun, a British tabloid, in which he stated:

"I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level. At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her."

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, publicly commented on Clarkson's remark, calling it "horrific, hurtful and cruel" towards his wife, Meghan Markle.

Clarkson, who also faced backlash and lost his job as a presenter on BBC's Top Gear in 2015 following a physical altercation with a producer, issued a public apology on Instagram, acknowledging the backlash he received and expressing regret for his comments.

Clarkson also reveals in the statement that he emailed Markle and Prince Harry on Christmas morning to apologize to them. “I said I was baffled by what they had been saying on TV but that the language I’d used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry.”

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also issued a statement, saying that Clarkson's apology "does not address his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny."
