The F40, of which only 1,311 were produced, is a highly sought-after model among car enthusiasts. However, this particular example is making its third appearance on the market within a five-month period. In August 2022, it was first offered for private sale by RM Sotheby's, and then resurfaced again in December.

Despite being put up for sale multiple times, there is nothing wrong with this special Ferrari. It is an immaculate vehicle with an intriguing backstory. In 1989, it was delivered new to Dutch Ferrari dealer Kroymans Automotive and was used as a race car in the Ferrari/Porsche Challenge series, driven by Michel Oprey and David Hart. During its motorsport career, the F40 was originally painted a bright yellow, but has since been repainted in a more subdued Grigio Nardo finish by the renowned restoration specialists at the Zanasi Group in Italy.

The vehicle also received attention from UK-based Autofficina, where it received a service, new fuel tanks, and had its suspension tested. Additionally, the twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V8 engine was upgraded with the help of Michelotto, increasing the standard output of 471 horsepower to a staggering 700 horsepower, and even able to deliver close to 1,000 horsepower depending on the setup.

Inside, the F40 features a minimalist interior with weight-saving measures in mind, with only two blue bucket seats and a few switches and the elegant gated manual gearbox. The reason for its repeated appearances on the market remains a mystery. Despite this, it remains a magnificent vehicle with a captivating backstory and a one-of-a-kind color scheme. With no reserve attached to its lot at the 2023 Scottsdale Auction, it could be a great opportunity for a collector to own a piece of Ferrari history.
