The next-generation Ford Ranger has been spotted in Detroit without any camouflage, revealing the design of the North American model. Though it closely resembles the global version that debuted over a year ago, there are a few key differences.
The camo-free Ranger was spotted with a sliding rear window, backup camera, and high-mount brake light, all features that are specific to the American market. The grille on this particular truck, believed to be a Lariat trim level, also appears to have a slightly different pattern than the global model. Additionally, Ford has been spotted testing Rangers with longer beds, which could be offered as an option for American buyers.

It is expected that the North American Ranger will only be offered with a gasoline engine, although a hybrid option could be available for standard trims. The high-performance Ranger Raptor, however, is confirmed to feature a twin-turbo V6. The current-generation Ranger uses a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder exclusively, making 270 horsepower (201 kilowatts) and 310 pound-feet (420 Newton-meters) of torque.
Ford has yet to announce an official debut date for the North American Ranger, but with these latest sightings, it could be imminent.
