Xiaomi's upcoming electric vehicle (EV) has been spotted undergoing testing in snowy conditions in China, with none other than the company's founder and CEO, Lei Jun, at the wheel.

A Weibo blogger by the handle of @不是郑小康 shared images of the EV testing on the Chinese microblogging website, revealing that Xiaomi was testing the yet-to-be-announced model in extreme weather conditions. The pictures also showed that the carmaker has kept the design of the vehicle under wraps, though it appears to be a sporty sedan.

Additionally, the blogger noted that there appeared to be a LiDAR sensor on the roof of the vehicle, hinting at the possibility of driver assistance or autonomous technology. Despite these observations, details about the car remain scarce. However, it is expected that the Xiaomi EV will be a medium-sized sedan with two different versions and could be announced later this year with sales beginning in 2024.
