Ford announced that it will sell the first production 2024 Mustang GT at the Barrett-Jackson annual auction in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 28th. The proceeds from the sale will benefit JDRF, a leading global organization for type 1 diabetes research and advocacy.

This marks the third generation of VIN 001 Mustangs to be auctioned for charity, following the Mustang Shelby GT500, Mustang Mach 1, and Mustang Bullitt.

Mustang Marketing Manager, Jim Owens, said, "Ford has a long tradition of supporting charities through the Barrett-Jackson auction, and we’re proud to offer the all-new Mustang GT to support worthy causes like juvenile diabetes research."

The winning bidder will have the opportunity to choose from standard options such as manual or automatic transmission, 11 exterior colors, 18- to 20-inch wheels, and Brembo brakes in three colors.

The new Mustang GT boasts a revised 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine that delivers 480 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque in standard form, and 486 hp and 418 lb-ft with the optional active-valve exhaust system, making it the most powerful stock Mustang GT in history. Regular deliveries of the pony car are expected to begin this summer.
