Dacia is taking a lighthearted jab at automakers that offer subscription-based access to features with their new "Heated Seat Saviors" campaign, offering free hot water bottles at select dealerships in the UK.

Dacia is having some good-natured fun at certain automakers (BMW first and foremost), offering up hot water bottles for free at their dealerships in London, Manchester and Swansea.

From 9 AM to 4 PM on February 1 and 2, each dealership will be handing out 25 "Heated Seat Saviors" on a first come first served basis. No purchases necessary in order to redeem; only one item per person.

Luke Broad, Dacia UK's Brand Director, stated “Heated Seat Saviors are a bit of fun, but they do highlight the direction the wider industry is going regarding subscription-based access to features. Asking someone to pay extra to activate factory-fitted equipment certainly isn’t Dacia!”

The simplicity that the Romanian car manufacturer offers eliminates any need for customers to worry about paywalls with regards to all their features. CEO Denis Le Vot echoed this sentiment when speaking last year about active safety tech and not forcing customers into buying something they don't want: “Lots of people deactivate the lane keep assist. You do that because you're a human being and you assess the situation so you deactivate the technology. What we do is we don't sell it to you."

Despite previously being known for providing some of Europe's most affordable vehicles, their new Jogger Hybrid (priced from €23 800) is their priciest model thus far - although this ceiling may well break once more later in the decade with the arrival of a larger SUV modelled on their Bigster concept vehicle.
