BMW is looking to the future with its latest venture, turning to artificial intelligence (AI) to design two off-roaders that could potentially rival the G-Class and Lexus LX.

The first image shared via Instagram showcased a machine reminiscent of the X7 without its controversial split-headlamp and oversized kidney grille. The vehicle's commanding stance plus its chunky off-road tires and roof rack were sure to make it fit right into any digital rainforest utopia. A closer look at the rear revealed boxed-off wheel arches and taillights from the F15 BMW X5, giving it an aesthetic combining classic BMW design with rugged off-road styling.

Some fans were quick to express their approval, saying that BMW should turn over all design processes to AI since it understands brand identity better than human designers do. Others showed disdain for this exercise, deeming it as a decision capable of tarnishing the brand name.

A second rendering was also previewed by BMW, seeming to be a tougher iteration of an existing regular model but with a more aggressive hood—a power dome appearing visually similar to forehead wrinkles. This SUV looks far more attractive compared to recent models like the XM; however, whether or not it will come into realization remains yet unknown.
