Zero Layer's main aim is to make driving more convenient by recording certain habits and adjusting certain functions to the owner's needs. For instance, if the driver calls their spouse at the same time every day, Zero Layer will remember this and eventually propose the call at the usual time.
The driver can choose to either accept or reject the suggestion, which appears on the infotainment screen. The function is intended to promote safer driving by minimizing the need for drivers to take their eyes off the road.
An over-the-air software update will allow owners of applicable vehicles, including the Maybach S-Class, to install Zero Layer. The update will be communicated to the customer via either the MBUX infotainment system or the Mercedes Me mobile app.
"We continuously optimize the performance of the systems and develop valuable new features for the customer that make driving a Mercedes-Benz even more pleasant. The update to the Zero Layer offers a 100% personalized and intuitive user experience, with all relevant functions always in view," said Mercedes' Chief Software Officer, Magnus Ostberg.
