Hyundai's head of design, Hak Soo Ha, has revealed that the company is exploring the use of analog controls in automotive interiors to balance the high-tech features that have become commonplace in modern cars. Ha, speaking to Carscoops at the Canadian International Auto Show, said that one of the reasons for producing retro concepts like the Pony and the N Vision74 was to prompt designers to think about how they should combine digital and analog features.
Ha expressed mixed feelings about all-digital interiors, saying that while he is interested in innovation, he also needs to take human factors such as ergonomics and safety into consideration. According to Ha, people are creatures of habit and tend to get confused when things are changed, especially in emergency situations when panic may set in.

Ha further said that there is still a place for tech-forward interiors in Hyundai's vehicles, but he believes that the technology must be seamless. He noted that it is crucial for a car to be able to seamlessly translate information from a phone, such as communication, navigation, or schedule, into the car without any cumbersome steps.
