The Cybertruck has been a hotly anticipated vehicle ever since Tesla first unveiled it in 2019. Now, as the company moves closer to its planned production start date, beta prototypes of the truck have been spotted at various locations in California. A recent video shows the Cybertruck with a functioning air suspension, a feature that has been touted by Tesla since the truck's initial unveiling.
Tesla has said that the adaptive air suspension system will be a key feature of the Cybertruck, allowing the truck to be raised and lowered up to four inches for easier access to the back or the storage vault. In addition, the system will feature self-leveling capabilities to adapt to any occasion and assist with every job.
Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has also hinted that the air suspension system will be updated to have even more travel for off-roading. Musk recently tweeted that Tesla is "working on increasing dynamic air suspension travel for better off-roading" and that the truck needs to "kick butt in Baja." The Baja 1000 is a grueling off-road race held annually in Mexico, featuring cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, and buggies outfitted for off-roading.
The Cybertruck is set to go into production this summer, although significant deliveries are not expected until 2024 when the company will ramp up to volume production. Nevertheless, the Cybertruck has already generated a lot of interest, with pre-orders reportedly exceeding 1 million within weeks of its initial unveiling.
