The exterior changes are subtle, but the most visible updates are the more aggressive front bumper with enlarged air cooling openings, new light signatures for the LED headlights and taillight clusters, and new aero-optimized alloy wheels. The facelifted ID.3 also has a black roof with matt-silver trim on the edges, new colors including the Dark Olivine Green iridescent metallic paint, and illuminated taillight segments in the boot lid. The black strip under the windshield has been removed, creating the impression of a longer front hood.
The interior of the 2024 VW ID.3 is similar to that of its predecessor, but Volkswagen says it has optimized the haptic experience by improving the material quality. The door panels have been redesigned to include softer and larger surfaces, while hand rests are more generous. The vehicle is now completely animal-free and has a high proportion of recycled materials. For example, the Artvelours Eco microfiber material used on the door trims and seat covers is made of 71% recycled plastic waste.

The infotainment system has several changes in the menu structure, and the charging menu is now located on the top level of the main display. The smart Electric Vehicle Route Planner has also been updated and improved to schedule charging stops on longer journeys, using current traffic information and forecasts in addition to the battery charge level.
The facelifted ID.3 features a new electronic architecture concept, which uses two high-performance computers as the main components. Basic vehicle functions remain on their separate control units. Updates in the assist systems include the use of swarm data in the Travel Assist feature, while Park Assist Plus has memory function allowing automatic retrieval and use of saved parking maneuvers.

The facelifted ID.3 retains the same rear-mounted electric drive motor rated at 150 kW and 310 Nm of torque, with the same battery packs and WLTP range ratings. The larger 77-kWh battery pack enables a range of up to 546 km (339 miles) in the ID.3 Pro S, while the smaller 58-kWh battery pack offers 426 km (264 miles) of range in the ID.3 Pro. The 77-kWh battery can charge from 5 to 80 percent within 30 minutes at a rate of up to 170 kW at a DC fast-charging station, while the 58-kWh pack needs 35 minutes to complete the same charging cycle at 120 kW.
Volkswagen has not announced the release date for the facelifted ID.3, but it is expected to start shipping to European customers in the fourth quarter of 2023.
