The facility includes separate tracks for adults and juniors and has already been accredited by the National Karting Association. This makes it a potential venue for national karting championship races in the future. The facility will also include educational activities for schools to introduce local kids to motorsport and career opportunities like engineering and software development.
The partnership will also focus on promoting environmental responsibility. Formula 1 has committed to becoming net zero carbon by 2030, and Tottenham is committed to halving its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and becoming net zero by 2040.
According to Stefano Domenicali, President, and CEO of Formula 1, the partnership will take Formula 1 and motorsport to new and diverse audiences. "The karting experience will be a destination and place that families, friends, and aspiring drivers from all over the world will want to visit and enjoy, engaging new audiences and offering an accessible entry point to the world of motorsport. Our brands have a shared vision to create life-changing career opportunities, promote diversity and inclusion, such as through the recently announced F1 Academy, and driving environmental sustainability - our innovative partnership will bring all of this to life."
The indoor go-kart track is set to open in the fall of 2023 and will be the focal point of Formula 1's relationship with Tottenham Hotspur.
