Acer is entering the field of electric mobility with its latest product, the ebii electric bike.

What’s happening: Acer, a renowned laptop manufacturer, has recently announced its latest product, the ebii electric bike. This innovative e-bike, which weighs only 35 pounds (16 kilograms), boasts several unique features that are yet to be seen in the industry. One of its standout features is a built-in AI designed to predictively control the transmission and make use of collision detection sensors for a safer ride.

More info: Additionally, the ebii electric bike boasts a proximity-based locking and unlocking system that automatically secures the bike as you move away from it. This technology is powered by a smartphone app that the bike can detect as you approach it. The app also enables the bike to have an inbuilt GPS function, allowing riders to monitor their rides and track the bike's location around the clock, from anywhere in the world. This feature not only enhances convenience but also serves as a significant theft deterrent.

Key points:

  • Acer ebii has a belt drive instead of a chain drive, 160mm hydraulic disc brakes, and 360-degree LED lighting.
  • Powering the Acer ebii is a hub-mounted 250-watt electric motor that gives the bike an assisted top-speed of 15 miles per hour.
  • It rolls on airless tires, as well as a single-sided front fork giving the bike a sleek aesthetic while reducing weight in the process.
  • The removable 460 watt-hour battery pack not only powers the bike, and is good for up to 68 miles on a single charge, it can also power up your gadgets and serve as a powerbank.

Bottom Line: At this point, Acer has not yet announced the official price of the ebii, nor when the bike will be available to order. But the more complex components and innovative design will probably lead to a much higher price tag than similarly priced e-bikes priced at $1,500 to $2,500.
