The incident caused the small hatchback to go airborne and perform an impromptu stunt worthy of a Burnout video game. Fortunately, the driver of the Kia escaped without serious injuries.

The driver of a first-generation Kia Soul was driving on the 118 Freeway near Los Angeles, California when a loose wheel from a modified Chevrolet Silverado collided with the small boxy hatchback, causing it to go airborne. The shocking incident was recorded by a camera inside a Tesla.

The front-left wheel that detached from the lifted and widened truck sent the Soul up in the air, spinning it around before it landed back on all four wheels. The loose wheel from the Silverado hit the Kia once again, this time colliding with the vehicle's rear.

The driver of the Tesla that recorded the peculiar incident, Anoop_Khatra, tweeted that the person driving the Kia escaped without any serious injuries. Fortunately, there were no passengers inside the vehicle. Autopilot was active in the Tesla, which suddenly swerved to the right to avoid the rogue tire.

While incidents like these are scary, they highlight the advancements made in car safety. If the Kia or Toyota had been from the 1970s, the occupants might not have survived such a crash.
