Toyota confirms that the upcoming 2024 Tacoma will have at least one hybrid powertrain option, and a recent teaser suggests it could be the same "i-Force MAX" engine found in the Tundra.

Toyota has released a new teaser for its upcoming 2024 Tacoma, which confirms that the popular mid-size pickup truck will feature at least one electrifying hybrid powertrain option. The teaser photo showcases the tail of the new Tacoma, with a badge that reads "i-Force MAX." This is the same engine name used for the hybrid V6 powertrain found in the larger Tundra truck, suggesting that Toyota's hybrid technology is expanding to smaller vehicles in their lineup.

While Toyota has not confirmed any further details about the Tacoma's hybrid powertrain, the automaker has referred to it as "electrifying," indicating that it will have significant electric capabilities. It remains unclear whether the Tacoma will feature the same twin-turbo hybrid V6 found in the Tundra or a different hybrid engine, such as a turbo four-cylinder hybrid.

Aside from the powertrain, the teaser also reveals other interesting details about the new Tacoma. The rear of the truck looks very similar to the Tundra, including the pseudo-spoiler design of the tailgate, and the bed liner wrapping over the top of the gate. The teaser also showcases a massive "TRD Pro" logo stamped into the tailgate, suggesting that this off-road-ready trim will be available alongside the rest of the Tacoma lineup.

Toyota has confirmed that the 2024 Tacoma will be released soon, and it is expected to go on sale by the end of the year or early next year. However, the exact timing of the release has not been revealed.
