Turkey's first all-electric SUV, the Togg T10X, has made its debut as the keys to the first example were handed over to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Despite being a new brand with no proven history, the Togg T10X has received a strong response from the public, with over 177,400 preorders submitted in the first 21 days of it being available. This strong demand has forced the company to increase its 2023 production plans from 12,000 units to 20,000.

The Togg T10X SUV is equipped with a single, rear-mounted electric motor that produces 218 hp and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Customers can choose between two different-sized battery packs that offer up to 314 km (195 miles) and 523 km (325 miles) of range, respectively. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.4 seconds.

In October, a more powerful version of the Togg T10X SUV will be launched. It features two electric motors with 435 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque and can reach 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

The price of the standard range model T10X ranges from 953,000 Turkish liras (about $50,200) to 1.055 million liras (about $55,600), while the long-range model is priced at 1.215 million liras (about $64,000).

“We had placed the first order for Togg, our national and indigenous brand that makes our country proud, in 2019. And today, we are receiving the first smart vehicle. I hope Togg, one of the initial fruits of the Century of Türkiye, may be auspicious for our nation,” the President said. “Togg has emerged, developed and reached its current level as a symbol of our country’s technological progress, economic development and global prestige. We are inshallah starting to see Togg on the roads as of today.”
