The first retail production 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray with VIN 001 has been sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction in West Palm Beach, Florida for a remarkable $1.1 million, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting DonorsChoose and an additional $50,000 donated to the charity from a generous Barrett-Jackson VIP.

Outfitted in the range-topping 3LZ, this hybrid Corvette sold for $1.1 million at auction, with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting DonorsChoose. This national non-profit aims to provide assistance for in-need classrooms. An additional $50,000 was donated to the charity from a generous Barrett-Jackson VIP in attendance.

“The atmosphere in the auction arena was supercharged during the bidding on the first retail production 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray,” said chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson Craig Jackson. “The Corvette is ‘America’s Sports Car,’ and the sale of the first electrified version ever produced was an iconic moment as collectors coveted the chance to own a piece of automotive history. Barrett-Jackson has a long history of auctioning VIN 001 vehicles from General Motors to benefit deserving charities and we are proud to have had the opportunity today to help raise funds for our nation’s classrooms.”

As a reminder, the 2024 C8 Corvette E-Ray is the first Corvette to feature AWD and an electrified powertrain. The naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 engine, rated at 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, is complemented by an electric motor on the front axle. This supplemental electric motor develops an extra 160 horsepower and 125 pound-feet, bringing total system output to 655 horsepower.

A new variant of the Corvette C8’s dual-clutch, eight speed automatic transmission is now offered exclusively with the E-Ray.

Under the skin, the C8 E-Ray rides on the GM Y2 platform, which it shares with all C8 variants. Production is currently scheduled to kick off in September 2023 at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky alongside the C8 Stingray and C8 Z06 models.
