Lia Block, the 16-year-old daughter of Ken Block, who passed away in a snowmobiling accident last January, is set to continue her father's legacy by racing the Hoonipigasus Porsche in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

Ken was aiming for a new Pikes Peak record last year with the pink Porsche 911, but his dream remained unrealized. This year, his daughter Lia will take the wheel and finish the climb her father started.

“This June I’ll be making a tribute run at the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb in the Hoonipigasus,” said Lia in a social media announcement.

The climb will not be timed, as Lia believes that she needs more experience before racing the car to the top. She acknowledges that mastering a 2,200-pound car with a 1,400-hp flat-six engine is no easy task, especially in one of the toughest racing venues in the world.

The Hoonipigasus is a vehicle of epic proportions, built by BBi Autosport, designed specifically for the famous hill climb. It utilizes a height-adjustable suspension system that operates automatically using GPS coordinates, raising or lowering the car as needed during the run to the clouds. The car is all-wheel drive, and its name and color are an homage to the 1971 Porsche 917/20 race car affectionately known as the "Pink Pig."

Although Lia has plenty of experience driving the Hoonicorn Mustang in a straight line, she is not unfamiliar with turning or stage rally. She received drift practice with her father at age 13 and is currently running a successful season in the Green APU American Rally Association, driving a Subaru BRZ in the Open 2WD category. She recently finished first in class at the 2023 Olympus Rally and is presently second overall in O2WD.

The 2023 Pikes Peak Hillclimb will be held on Sunday June 25.
