The new limited edition model is set to make its debut on May 31st and it promises to pack a serious punch.

While Dieselgate resulted in the cancellation of the ultimate Golf R with R400 and R420 versions, Volkswagen's 20 Years Edition launched in 2022 marked two decades of R-badged cars with its impressive power and performance. Now, the automaker is teasing a follow-up with a very yellow Golf R 333 Limited Edition.

The "333" on the vehicle likely refers to the engine's PferdStarke output, which is expected to match 328 horsepower (245 kilowatts) of the 20 Years Edition. The new Golf R 333 will likely have torque of around 309 pound-feet (420 Newton-meters), which echoes the previous special edition.

In a sneak preview released on YouTube, Volkswagen shows off the car's black "333" decal running along the bottom of the doors, 19-inch Estoril wheels with blue brake calipers, black side mirror caps, and an Akrapovič quad exhaust system.

Like the 20 Years Edition, the new Golf R 333 will likely only be sold as a hatchback.

With the facelifted Golf set to launch in 2024, the Golf R 333 will be one of the final special variants based on the existing model. Given the €60,000 price tag of the Golf R 20 Years in Germany, the Golf R 333 is expected to be similarly expensive.
