Joining the Superb in the teaser campaign is the second-generation Kodiaq SUV. These two models recently underwent rigorous testing in extreme conditions at the Arctic Circle ahead of their fall reveals.
The Arctic Circle served as the ultimate proving ground, subjecting the Superb and Kodiaq prototypes to temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius. The fully camouflaged vehicles were tested on icy roads covered in thick snow. Skoda has remained tight-lipped about specific details but did mention comprehensive evaluations were carried out on various aspects, including the chassis, body, electrical system, and the optional auxiliary heating.

The automaker also paid attention to interior components by assessing the responsiveness of the touchscreen at temperatures below freezing. Both the Superb and Kodiaq will be available with plug-in hybrid powertrains. Skoda even charged their battery packs in frozen conditions to determine the maximum electric range. In total, these Arctic Circle tests covered tens of thousands of kilometers, ensuring the vehicles' capabilities and endurance.
Underpinning the new models will be an updated MQB platform, featuring more efficient gasoline and diesel engines developed to comply with the upcoming Euro 7 regulations. As for the transmission options, it remains to be seen whether the base versions will retain a six-speed manual gearbox or exclusively offer a DSG dual-clutch transmission.
2024 Skoda Superb and Kodiaq at the Arctic Circle
Production of the Superb will be relocated from Kvasiny, Czech Republic, to Bratislava, Slovakia, where it will share the assembly line with the Skoda-developed, wagon-only Volkswagen Passat. The Kodiaq will continue to be manufactured at the Kvasiny factory.
Skoda plans to unveil the 2024 Superb and 2024 Kodiaq separately later this year. Their Volkswagen counterparts, the Passat and Tiguan, are also expected to make their debuts by the end of the year.
