Nissan recently announced the pricing for the 2024 GT-R lineup, revealing a significant $100,000 gap between the base GT-R Premium and the range-topping Nismo trim.

The 2024 Nissan GT-R has received a facelift, surprising enthusiasts with its refreshed appearance. With cleaner lines and improved proportions, this aging performance car is arguably looking better than ever. However, along with the visual updates comes a price increase that may raise some eyebrows among potential buyers in the United States.

The base GT-R now starts at $120,990, while the Nismo trim demands a staggering $220,900. When factoring in the mandatory $1,895 destination charge, the out-the-door prices come to $122,885 and $222,885, respectively. This means that the Nismo is considerably pricier than a new Porsche 911 Turbo and only slightly less expensive than a 911 Turbo S, despite the Nismo having less weight and more horsepower.

What justifies the steep price of $222,885 for the Nismo? Well, all 2024 GT-Rs boast improved aerodynamics, but the Nismo takes it a step further with extensive carbon fiber bodywork. Carbon fiber can be found on the roof, hood, trunk lid, front and rear fascia, mirror housings, side sills, and rear spoiler. While Nissan doesn't mention a weight advantage for the Nismo, it does offer a slightly better 54/46 front-to-rear weight distribution. The exclusive bodywork not only enhances the car's appearance but also increases downforce and improves cooling for the mechanical components.

Under the hood, both the Nismo and the standard GT-R feature a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine, but the Nismo pumps out 600 horsepower compared to the standard GT-R's 565 horsepower.

For those who desire more performance than the base GT-R but find the Nismo's price too steep, Nissan offers the T-spec trim for 2024. The T-spec trim incorporates some of the Nismo's performance elements, including brakes, wheels, and software tuning for the suspension. It also comes in special colors exclusive to the T-spec. While the T-spec maintains the base-level horsepower, it carries a more affordable price tag of $142,885.

Here's a breakdown of the pricing for each trim in the US market:

  • 2024 Nissan GT-R Premium: $120,990 MSRP ($122,885 with destination fee)
  • 2024 Nissan GT-R T-spec: $140,990 MSRP ($142,885 with destination fee)
  • 2024 Nissan GT-R Nismo: $220,990 MSRP ($222,885 with destination fee)

According to Nissan, the 2024 GT-R will arrive at dealerships in the spring, with the Nismo models expected to follow in the summer.
