Porsche Taycan owners in the US can now enhance their EV road trip experience with the integration of Apple Maps EV Routing into Apple CarPlay. This new feature allows Taycan drivers to plan their journeys seamlessly while staying connected with Apple Maps.

Previously, Porsche Taycan owners had to exit Apple CarPlay to plan their routes, including charging stops. However, with the introduction of Apple Maps EV Routing, owners can now access vital information such as charging station locations, estimated charging times, and energy usage details without leaving Apple CarPlay. Notably, this capability sets the Taycan apart from some rival electric vehicles that lack support for Apple CarPlay.

Apple Maps EV Routing goes beyond suggesting charging stations. It takes into account the Taycan's state of charge, ensuring that recommended charging stations are within the vehicle's driving range. By doing so, it alleviates concerns about range anxiety and prevents unnecessary charging stops.

While the Taycan already includes the built-in Porsche Charging Planner, which optimizes road trips based on factors like average driving speed, traffic conditions, and the EV's state of charge, the integration of Apple Maps EV Routing further enhances convenience for users who frequently utilize Apple CarPlay.

Steffen Haug, Porsche Digital Managing Director, acknowledges the importance of flexibility and customer satisfaction, stating, "This integration with a product that they are already familiar with gives more options and confidence in how they use their Taycan, both in day-to-day activities and on longer road trips."

Apple Maps EV Routing leverages real-time traffic information and considers variables like elevation to provide accurate range estimates. In case a driver deviates from the recommended charging station and reaches a low state of charge, the technology automatically guides them to the nearest compatible charging station.
