While enthusiasts will have to wait until 2024 to get their hands on one, Volkswagen aims to commemorate this milestone by declaring June 2 as International Volkswagen Bus Day.
Cameron Batten, chief communications officer for VW Group in America, expressed his excitement, stating, "Whether you call them Buses, Bullis, or Kombis, the legacy of the Type 2 on modern culture is unmatched. As we continue to introduce the T2's 21st Century electric successor, the ID. Buzz, we're thrilled to create this annual day of celebration for Volkswagen bus fans and enthusiasts everywhere."
The North American ID. Buzz will share design elements with its European counterpart, featuring a distinctive flat face with slender headlights and stylish trims. While precise details regarding the size of the LWB model remain unknown, rumors suggest it will stretch approximately 10.6 inches longer than the standard version, providing ample room for an additional row of seats.
As for its powertrain, the current ID. Buzz boasts an 82.0-kWh battery pack coupled with a single electric motor, generating 201 horsepower. However, the North American variant is expected to offer a dual-motor configuration, delivering enhanced performance with an estimated 300 horsepower and potentially utilizing a larger 111-kWh battery.
More details regarding the Volkswagen ID. Buzz LWB model will be unveiled in the coming weeks, providing enthusiasts with answers to their burning questions. Until then, eager buyers will have to exercise patience until its arrival in 2024.
