Volvo Trucks has recently clinched a groundbreaking deal with Holcim, one of the world's largest building materials manufacturers, to supply up to 1,000 electric trucks. This order marks the largest commercial purchase of Volvo electric trucks to date.

Under the agreement, Volvo will deliver the initial batch of 130 electric trucks during 2023 and 2024 to various European markets, including France, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK. This momentous collaboration between Volvo and Holcim represents a significant step towards achieving their shared goal of decarbonizing the transportation sector.

Both Volvo Trucks and Holcim are committed to the Science-Based Targets Initiative, which drives ambitious climate action in the private sector, and are founding members of the First Movers Coalition (FMC). The FMC is a coalition of companies dedicated to promoting innovative clean technologies across challenging sectors.

The switch from conventional diesel trucks to Volvo FH Electric trucks powered by green electricity has the potential to save up to 50,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

“The net-zero transition requires deep collaboration across value chains. We are excited to be partnering with Volvo to decarbonize our European operations’ logistics with electric fleets, advancing our goal to reach 30% of zero-emission heavy-duty trucks by 2030,” says Jan Jenisch, Chairman and CEO of Holcim.
