Suzuki Jimny is set to make its debut in India on June 7 as Maruti Suzuki, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker. Unlike the standard three-door variant available in most markets, the Jimny in India will feature a five-door configuration, providing increased practicality for customers.

Since its unveiling at the Auto Expo 2023 event in Delhi earlier this year, the five-door Suzuki Jimny has generated significant interest, amassing over 30,000 reservations in India alone. This remarkable response is a testament to the popularity and appeal of the Jimny in the Indian market.

Under the hood, all versions of the Jimny in India will be equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, delivering a respectable 103 horsepower and 99 lb-ft (134 Nm) of torque. Customers can opt for either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic with a torque converter to complement the engine.

Indian customers will have the choice between two trim levels: the Zeta and the Alpha. While the complete list of features for both models is yet to be released, reports from local media indicate that the range-topping Alpha will come equipped with automatic LED headlights, a 9-inch infotainment screen featuring Suzuki's SmartPlay Pro+ system, cruise control, and a premium Arkamys sound system. Safety features such as six airbags, ESP with hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, a rear-view camera, and ABS will also be included.

The Jimny will feature Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system as standard across both trim levels, providing exceptional off-road capabilities. With its ladder-frame chassis, 8.3 inches (210 mm) of ground clearance, and impressive approach and departure angles of 36 degrees and 50 degrees respectively, the Jimny ensures a thrilling off-road experience for adventure enthusiasts.

While the pricing details are yet to be announced, industry experts expect the Jimny to be priced between Rs 10 lakh ($12,073) and Rs 12 lakh ($14,487) in the Indian market.
