Starting early next year, Ford EV customers will enjoy enhanced charging capabilities with the announcement of a groundbreaking agreement between Ford Motor Company and Tesla. The agreement will grant Ford EV customers access to over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the United States and Canada, effectively doubling the number of fast-charging options available to them.

The inclusion of Tesla Superchargers alongside the existing 10,000 DC fast-chargers in the BlueOval Charge Network will provide Ford EV customers with unparalleled access to fast-charging infrastructure. This development marks a significant milestone in Ford's commitment to offering convenient and efficient charging solutions for its electric vehicle lineup, including popular models such as the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit.

To facilitate seamless integration, Ford EV customers will be able to access Tesla Superchargers through an adapter and software integration, with activation and payment managed via FordPass or Ford Pro Intelligence. However, the need for an adapter will be eliminated entirely in 2025 when Ford introduces next-generation electric vehicles equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector as a standard feature.

The Tesla Supercharger network has already established its reputation as a reliable and efficient charging infrastructure, with extensive coverage across the United States and Canada. This collaboration between Ford and Tesla will further enhance the charging network's reach and effectiveness, enabling more customers to confidently embark on long-distance journeys in their electric vehicles.

Jim Farley, Ford's president and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the agreement, highlighting the significant benefits it brings to Ford customers. He stated, "Widespread access to fast-charging is absolutely vital to our growth as an EV brand, and this breakthrough agreement comes as we are ramping up production of our popular Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, and preparing to launch a series of next-generation EVs starting in 2025."

Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla's senior director of charging infrastructure, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing Tesla's commitment to accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Tinucci expressed excitement about welcoming Ford and other electric vehicle owners who adopt the NACS connector to Tesla's extensive Supercharger network.

The BlueOval Charge Network is already North America’s largest public charging network with over 84,000 chargers including access to over 10,000 public DC fast-chargers. Adding more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers creates the single largest integrated fast-charge network across the U.S. and Canada.

Additionally, Ford dealers are adding roughly 1,800 public-facing fast-chargers and locations to the BlueOval Charge Network by early 2024.
