Founded in Sweden in 2020, ZParq aims to revolutionize marine propulsion by offering highly compact and scalable systems for propeller-driven watercraft. The company's interdisciplinary team, consisting of experts in electromechanical design, hydrodynamics, electronics, and product design, has been developing technology to address the need for compact submersible electric propulsion systems in high-performance applications.
ZParq has already developed an impressive portfolio of marine technologies, including electric motors, battery packs, inverters, levers, and a steering joystick. The startup joined the portfolio of EIT InnoEnergy, the largest impact cleantech investor in Europe, as its first institutional investor.
The recent seed round, led by Santander and Almi Invest GreenTech, in collaboration with EIT InnoEnergy, demonstrates the investors' confidence in ZParq's vision. The startup's electric marine motors offer a sustainable end-to-end solution, with a light design that reduces raw material consumption and CO2 footprint by over 50% during production. Furthermore, the circular design approach adopted by ZParq minimizes environmental impact and climate footprint throughout the entire life cycle of its products.
ZParq's CEO, Jonas Genchel, expressed gratitude for the new investors' support, emphasizing the significant interest from boat manufacturers and ship builders globally. The company is currently in the pilot phase, testing its 10kW and 50kW motors with several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and boat builders. ZParq aims to have multiple units operating in the water by this summer.
