Ukraine and Lithuania have signed an international agreement on mutual recognition and exchange of driving licences. This happened during a meeting between the interior ministers of the two countries, Igor Klimenko and Agne Bilotaite, in Brussels.

Driving licences of Ukrainian citizens are already recognised in Lithuania, but once the agreement enters into force, Ukrainians will no longer have to take a driving test when exchanging their A and B category driving licences, the Lithuanian Interior Ministry has said.

The agreement will come into force in a few months, when the legal procedures in both countries have been completed.

"We have signed an agreement that Ukrainians living in Lithuania are very much looking forward to. We fully support Ukraine and are doing everything we can to provide the most convenient services for Ukrainians living in Lithuania," Agne Bilotaite said.

The exchange will require the submission of a permanent residence document, a Ukrainian driving licence and a medical certificate.
