Tesla has unveiled a new retail concept called "Giga Laboratory," which appears to showcase its manufacturing capacity.

Despite announcing a move to online sales in 2019, Tesla has continued to rely heavily on physical retail locations for marketing purposes. Tesla's number of physical locations, including retail and service centers, has more than doubled in the last three years, reaching 1,000 locations worldwide.

The new retail concept, "Tesla Giga Laboratory," is being introduced in China and offers an immersive experience related to car manufacturing, including a 45-second assembly process. The retail experience also highlights Tesla's powertrain technology, with certain parts of the drivetrain being displayed.

Tesla made the announcement on its official Weibo account (translated from Chinese):

"The country’s first “Tesla GIGA Laboratory” made a stunning debut. Tesla’s “Most Beautiful Store in Chengdu” unveiled the mystery: An immersive experience of the magic of “building a car in 45 seconds”. Meet up with friends “Chat and take a break”."

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has emphasized that Tesla is primarily a manufacturing company, and this new retail experience aligns with that focus.
