A mystery Volkswagen sedan, possibly either the Jetta for the United States or the Sagitar for China, has been spotted testing in Europe. It is undergoing brake testing in the Austrian Alps.

The design of the sedan shares similarities with the current Jetta and Sagitar models, including headlights with pointy elements, a trapezoidal lower facia with metallic elements, and tiny air curtains on the outer edges. The side profile of the sedan also resembles the two models, featuring large windows and a sleek-shaped rear portion of the roof. The vehicle rides on wheels with 10 wavy spokes and has sensors on each hub.

The interior details are not clearly visible, but it is mentioned that the vehicle has a combustion engine with a visible muffler underneath the driver's side. A four-cylinder engine is expected.

There are speculations about the upcoming replacement for the Jetta, with spy shots suggesting that Volkswagen is preparing the ID. Aero EV as a potential successor. The electric sedan is rumored to debut in the second half of 2023 and initially be available in China. Its range is estimated at 385 miles in the WLTP cycle.
