Panasonic Energy plans to supply Mazda with cylindrical lithium-ion batteries manufactured at its plants in Japan and North America. Mazda intends to install the batteries procured from Panasonic Energy in its battery EVs scheduled to be launched in the latter half of the 2020 decade.
The collaboration between Panasonic Energy and Mazda is seen as a major step toward achieving zero emissions and promoting the growth of the lithium-ion battery industry. Mazda considers this partnership as part of its electrification initiatives and its strategy to curb global warming.
