This morning in the city of Zhanghua, philanthropists announced a large-scale humanitarian aid shipment for Ukraine. It includes 48 vehicles, including more than 20 ambulances, at least 6 fire trucks and several dozen off-road vehicles and minibuses for the needs of Ukrainian defenders at the frontlines.
The project was initiated by local businessman Bai Sanzhong. He began buying used cars and paying for their repairs and refurbishment. In addition, government agencies across the country, including the Ministry of Health, regional police and customs departments, have joined the campaign.
The Taiwan Presbyterian Church, the Taiwan Association for Community Development (TACA) and other donors will prepare the humanitarian aid and specialized equipment to be loaded into vehicles before they depart.
According to Taiwan International Radio, the shipment is scheduled to leave for Ukraine by sea in mid-July.
