Volkswagen's retro-inspired electric van, the European-spec ID. Buzz, recently underwent an intriguing test of its handling capabilities. While vans are not typically known for their sporty performance, the ID. Buzz surprised enthusiasts with its performance in both the moose test and a slalom evaluation.

Equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor generating 201 horsepower, this particular ID. Buzz model features a short wheelbase and rides on Continental EcoContant 6 tires. The van's agility was put to the test in a slalom run, where it showcased impressive results. Clocking in at 25.7 seconds, the ID. Buzz easily outperformed the VW Multivan 1.4 eHybrid, which completed the course in 26.5 seconds. Furthermore, it even bested the Land Rover Range Rover Sport P510e Autobiography, completing the cones in just 26.1 seconds.

The real challenge, however, came in the form of the moose test. The initial attempt at 47 miles per hour (76 kilometers per hour) resulted in the ID. Buzz hitting cones during the second and third sections of the course. After several interventions from the electronic stability control, the van managed to find success at a slightly lower speed of 44 mph (71 km/h), overcoming the course's obstacles. Unfortunately, an attempt at 50 mph (81 km/h) proved unsuccessful, as the van couldn't navigate the third portion of the test.
